About this model
The AS 984 is a 10½-ligne hand-wound movement running at 18,000 A/h, made by A. Schild of Grenchen, one of Switzerland’s largest movement makers in the mid-20th century. The movement is marked both 1002 and 984. The calibre belongs to the 1940s, and so does the dial: a light centre, a black ring with large Arabic numerals, and the Incabloc, Waterproof and Antimagnetic markings that were standard on Swiss watches in the 1940s and early 1950s. The exact year cannot be determined.
What I know is wrong with it
Light champagne centre with a black ring carrying the numerals. A few dirt spots on the dial, most visible below the text in the centre. The luminous paint on the numerals and hands has darkened with age. The plexi crystal is freshly polished and in good condition. Base metal case in good condition, no deep scratches. Regulated by me and keeps good time. Service history unknown. Not pressure tested, treat it as not water resistant. Fixoflex metal expansion bracelet, not original.
No watch here has been pressure-tested. A period WATERPROOF or WATER RESISTANT stamp says nothing about the seals today, so treat every watch on this site as not water resistant.
