About this model
Record was founded in Tramelan in 1903 and was one of the twelve Swiss firms the British Ministry of Defence commissioned in 1944 to build to its W.W.W. specification, the group collectors later named the Dirty Dozen. This is not one of those: it is a civilian Record Sport, with no military markings and no issue numbers. Same maker, different order. Longines bought a majority stake in Record in 1961 and the watches were signed Record Longines from then on. The brand was wound up in 1991.
What I know is wrong with it
The crystal is loose and has to be replaced. Nothing else has been examined yet.
No watch here has been pressure-tested. A period WATERPROOF or WATER RESISTANT stamp says nothing about the seals today, so treat every watch on this site as not water resistant.
