Seiko 6309-7040 "Turtle"

Seiko · 6309-7040 · 1984-12

About this model

The 6309 is the everyday version of Seiko's dive watch. It carries a 150 metre rating and the cushion case that gave it its nickname, since seen from above the rounded corners look like a shell. This was never marketed at professional divers so much as at everyone else, which is why so many were sold and why so many survive with honest wear rather than in cases. Seiko built the reputation on the case and the seals rather than on the movement, and it held: the 6309 turns up in Cameron's The Abyss, and it is the watch a generation of divers actually owned.

I have not had this one on the bench, so there is nothing written down. Ask and I will take a proper look and tell you what I find before you decide anything.
